How to take?
Vitamin B12: Take one capsule per day with food. You can take your Vitamin B12 at anytime however we recommend taking it in the morning or during the day to support your energy for the day ahead.

DR.VEGAN® Vitamin B12 - in the form of methylcobalamin - is in the most bio-available form, is easy to digest and kind on your body.

Vitamin B12 is essential because it helps produce red blood cells which in turn carry oxygen around your body. If your body doesn't have enough red blood cells, it can contribute to tiredness, fatigue and anaemia.

B12 is also important for lowering homocysteine - a common amino acid - in your blood which is important for your brain's cognitive health and your nervous system. High levels of homocysteine are linked to a higher risk of heart disease and can affect cell health, which has been linked to dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

If you're vegetarian or vegan it is quite possible you will not be getting enough B12 through your diet. Older adults and people with certain health conditions have trouble absorbing B12 which can also lead to deficiency.

Why is Omega 3 good for you?

Omega 3 fats are particularly beneficial for heart health, brain function and eye health. The best sources are oily fish such as mackerel, salmon and trout. Plant sources of the short-chain omega 3s known as ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) include flax, hemp, chia and pumpkin seeds, walnuts and grapeseed oil. These foods can help maintain normal cholesterol levels. The body can convert ALA into EPA and DHA fatty acids, but the process is not very efficient as less than 10% is converted. An omega 3 supplement containing EPA and DHA can be beneficial for vegetarians, vegans or those who don’t eat any oily fish.

How many omega 3 can I take?

Our Vegan Omega 3 is made up of 1000mg algae oil which provides 550mg of Omega 3, 300mg EPA and 150mg DHA per serving. The official recommendation for Omega 3 daily consumption is 250mg per day of combined EPA and DHA.  However, algae oil has a higher DHA content which is why our supplement has 300mg DHA and 150mg EPA. 

A registered nutritional therapist may prescribe a higher dose of Omega 3 as a therapeutic dose short term but it is never wise to increase the dosage of any supplements without consulting a doctor.

I'm vegan. How much B12 do I need?

The recommended daily requirement of Vitamin B12 for adults is approximately 1.5 micrograms. 

Vitamin B12 deficiency due to inadequate dietary intake is much more common among plant-based and vegan diets because B12 primarily comes from animal foods. If your diet is vegan or plant-based and you’re not eating animal foods or foods fortified with Vitamin B12, it is likely you won’t be getting enough Vitamin B12.  

Opt for foods fortified with Vitamin B12 including yeast extract, such as Marmite or yeast flakes, some plant milk alternatives, soya yoghurts and breakfast cereals. alongside our Vitamin B12 supplement.

Can I take B12 with my B12 injections

Yes, this should be safe to do and many customers do take our Vitamin B12 alongside their B12 injections when they feel they need the additional support. However, we would advise you to consult your GP if you find that you need our supplement regularly alongside your B12 injections, as this may mean that you need to increase your dosage via injections.

How long does B12 take to work?

It can very much depend on a number of factors including your diet, lifestyle, age, weight, exercise levels, any existing health conditions and the current levels of your B12 and B Vitamins. Our Vitamin B12, for example, is very popular among those who have a deficiency due to their diet or other factors, and who do a lot of exercise and expend a lot of energy for which they need additional support.  

Some people notice the benefits within hours or a day or two of taking Vitamin B12, for others however they notice the difference over a period of a few weeks, or when they stop taking them for a few days. As such, it really does depend on each individual. However, we’d hope that you would begin to start feeling the benefits within 2-4 weeks once your body has adapted.

What is the best time to take Vitamin B12

B vitamins are best taken in the morning after waking up. This is because of their energy-increasing abilities. It is due to this reason we would advise against taking your B vitamins in the evening to prevent disruption to your sleep.
