Sweet & Sticky Tofu (Ve)

Sweet and sticky tofu—a perfect combination of sweet and savoury. This tofu recipe takes centre stage at any meal. Tofu is packed with protein, which is essential for your muscles and the growth and repair of your body. It has a major role in controlling your appetite, supporting your immune system, making hormones, carrying oxygen and maintaining healthy kidney function. Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. oil of choice
  • 600g Extra Firm, Tofu-Pressed
  • 40ml maple syrup
  • 40ml soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Glug of red wine

Method:

  1. Start by cutting your tofu into slices and scoring (this helps the tofu absorb as much flavour as possible).
  2. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add your oil. Sear off your tofu on both sides until crispy.
  3. In a Tupperware, mix your marinade of maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic and red wine.
  4. Add tofu to the marinade for around 15 minutes and cover with a lid.
  5. Once marinated, add your tofu to an oiled baking tray and cook for a further 20 minutes. For optimal flavour, cook alongside your roasties or veggies!
