Description
An adequate intake of both soluble and insoluble fibre is vital for general health and wellbeing, and DR.VEGAN® Fibre Complex is a high strength formula of both soluble and insoluble fibre.
Dietary fibre is an indigestible complex carbohydrate that is found in the structural components of plants. Although they cannot be absorbed by the body and have no calorific value, the health benefits of eating a diet rich in multiple sources of fibre, are immense.
Benefits of a high fibre diet include the prevention of constipation, the regulation of blood glucose levels and the prevention of diabetes, protection against cardiovascular disease and possibly reducing the risk of other very serious health conditions.
Fibre can be classified as soluble and insoluble, depending on their solubility, and both are essential for optimal health. Insoluble fibres consist mostly of cell wall components such as cellulose, hemi-cellulose and lignin. Insoluble fibre is slightly harder to digest, so it helps to bulk up our stools. Insoluble fibre is also slowly utilised by healthy gut bacteria, helping support a healthy and vibrant gut microbiome. Insoluble fibre is found in roughage like broccoli, wheat bran, the skins of fruit and vegetables or whole linseeds.
Soluble fibres consist of non-cellulosic polysaccharides such as pectin, gums and mucilage. Soluble fibre will absorb water, dissolve and form a gel-like substance that slows down our digestion and softens our stools. Soluble fibres will ferment in the gut and contribute to the growth and diversity of the beneficial bacteria found within our intestines. Examples of good soluble fibre include lentils, oats, barley and psyllium.
If you currently take prescribed medication, it is best to take your Fibre Complex one hour before or after your medication. This will make sure the fibre complex does not interfere with the absorption of your medication.
Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any medications or are under medical supervision, please consult a healthcare professional before use. Discontinue use and consult a doctor if adverse reactions occur. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool dry place.
