Description
Gut Works® is an advanced formula of gut-friendly bacteria, also known as probiotics, and prebiotics to rebalance your gut microbiome to fuel your healthy gut and digestion, brain and mental performance, immunity and daily wellbeing. Gut Works® provides daily support for your gut health, a healthy bowel and for IBS. With 50 billion live cultures** in the optimal combination of 6 gut-friendly bacteria strains, including Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Rhamnosus, Casei, and Bifidobacterium, as well as Inulin and Psyllium, Gut Works® is the most complete daily probiotic for gut, brain and immune health.

Live bacteria are beneficial bacteria that live in the body and are found in very large numbers in the gut. The gut is full of organisms ranging from bacteria, fungi and parasites, which are kept in check by gut-friendly bacteria. These gut-friendly bacteria provide a vast number of functions throughout the entire body. Gut-friendly bacteria help to "crowd out" unwanted organisms in the gut, such as unwanted bacteria, yeast and parasites. You can learn more about probiotics here on the NHS website.

Gut Works® contains Inulin and some of the most widely researched and studied gut-friendly bacteria, including:

Inulin is a type of gut-friendly dietary fibre found in many plants that can help other gut-friendly bacteria grow. It is found in a wide range of fruits, vegetables and herbs including wheat, onions, bananas, leeks, artichokes and asparagus.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus is a gut-friendly bacteria that naturally occurs in the human gut and other parts of the body, helping your digestive system break down sugars, such as lactose into lactic acid.

Lactobacillus Rhamnosus exists naturally in your body, primarily in the intestines, and helps prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in the stomach and intestines.

Lactobacillus Casei is another of many gut-friendly bacteria that live in your digestive system, urinary and genital tracts.

Bifidobacterium Lactis is good bacteria that live in the intestines and can help break down food and absorb nutrients.

Streptococcus Thermophilus are friendly bacteria living in our digestive, urinary and genital systems.

Psyllium Husk (Plantago ovata) contributes to the intestinal tract and intestinal function, helping maintain a healthy bowel and facilitating intestinal transit.

Questions? We have answers:

How do I store my probiotics?

Probiotics are very sensitive to heat and warm air, so keep your pouch away from any warm air or moisture, including radiators, steam from a kettle or showers in a bathroom. If at all uncertain, store in your fridge if it is frost-free.

Can my child take Gut Works®?

Although our supplements are formulated for adults, Gut Works® is safe for teenagers and older children, subject of course to the child being of average size and weight for their age. Gut Works® is a high-strength probiotic, so we would advise for a child under the age of 13 to look at a child-friendly probiotic.

Need advice? No problem, you can email our expert nutritionists at team@drvegan.com who are always happy to help and advise.

Can I take Skin Saviour® alongside Gut Works® or is this too much live bacteria?

Yes, it is in fact very common to take Gut Works® and Skin Saviour® together because they’re both so effective individually and in combination.

As always with probiotics, do ensure you always reseal your pouch and only add a few capsules to your pill tin each time; keep your supplements away from heat, warm air and moisture (probiotics are very sensitive to heat); and do take your Gut Works® and Skin Saviour® capsules at least 20 minutes before or after a hot drink or food, and ideally on an empty stomach.

How is pH Hero® different to Gut Works® or Skin Saviour®?

pH Hero® contains specific strains of probiotics that help promote a balanced pH vaginal microbiome, as well as cranberry, nettle and Sea Buckthorn to support urinary tract health, vaginal dryness and maintain a normal menstrual flow.

Can probiotics and Gut Works® be taken over the long term?

This is a common question about probiotics. Whilst there can be some exceptions to this rule, the general answer is yes, it’s safe and often recommended to take your probiotics daily to keep your gut microbiome healthy.

When is the best time to take Gut Works®?

Gut Works® should be taken at least 20 minutes before or after hot food or drinks and ideally on an empty stomach. Probiotics are extremely sensitive to heat, which is why it's important to take them well before or after any hot food or drink. You can take your Gut Works® capsule at any time of day.

Also remember to store your pouch and refillable pill tin in a cool, dry place and away from warm air, moisture or direct heat.

Can I take Gut Works® alongside Debloat & Detox?

Yes, Debloat & Detox and Gut Works® can be taken together and are very commonly done so to provide complete daily support for your gut health and gut microbiome. They also form our bestselling Gut Health Bundle.

6 signs of an unhealthy gut

An unhealthy gut is a common problem and affects much more than our bowels and digestion. Discover the common signs of an unhealthy gut.

How gut health affects the skin

Healthy skin is something so many of us strive for so our experts explain how looking after your gut is the first place to start for healthy, glowing skin.

Why your gut is your second brain

The gut and the brain are intrinsically connected. They communicate in both directions all the time through 'the vagus nerve'. However, our gut and brain also communicate through our hormones, through 'neurotransmitters' throughout our body.

How your gut and vagina are linked

The gut and brain are connected via the gut-vagina axis. Poor gut health can impact the vaginal microbiome and trigger an imbalance. This imbalance can lead to various health issues.
