How to take?

PMS Hero®

  • Take two capsules each day to help regulate hormones throughout your cycle. Take your two capsules together or separately.
  • PMS Hero® is best taken daily throughout the month.
  • You can take PMS Hero® a few days before the onset of PMS, however, if this doesn't address your PMS signs, we recommend taking PMS Hero® each day to support your energy and mood and ensuring you enjoy the full benefits before and during your period.
  • Avoid PMS Hero® if you are pregnant or suffer from a history of blood clotting or are at risk of clotting, or are currently taking blood thinner medication or anticoagulants. Consult with your GP or healthcare provider if you're taking any prescribed medication before taking PMS Hero® or other food supplements. If you find that you only need to take one capsule a day that's absolutely fine. You may begin to feel a difference within a week or two, depending on when you begin taking PMS Hero®. The majority of users feel the full benefits of PMS Hero® during their second cycle after starting to take it each day.

GlucoBalance®

  • Take two capsules each day, with food.
  • We recommend taking your GlucoBalance® with or within 30-60 minutes after each of your main meals. Try to avoid taking GlucoBalance® on an empty stomach.
  • As a natural, plant-based supplement, GlucoBalance® is safe to take alongside most medications and treatments. However, as with all supplements, if you're at all uncertain we recommend consulting with your GP or healthcare practitioner first.
  • If you have any questions, please do just get in touch at team@drvegan.com and our registered nutritionists are always happy to help.

How it works

The nutritionist recommended bundle for managing signs of PCOS. PMS Hero® and GlucoBalance® work together for mood swings, hunger cravings, breast tenderness and more.

PMS Hero® is an acclaimed plant-based formula of clinically tested botanicals, minerals and vitamins common signs that arise during your periods. Supports breast tenderness, cramps, bloating, mood swings, irritability and more, so you can thrive before, during and after your period.

Research shows PMS Hero® is 2x more effective than other vitamins and supplements for PMS, and 91% of women who take PMS Hero® feel a difference.

GlucoBalance® is a uniquely comprehensive formula for maintaining healthy blood glucose levels naturally. GlucoBalance® combines 8 scientifically researched ingredients, including Chromium, Cinnamon and Alpha-Lipoic Acid, to support blood sugar control, insulin function, and healthy metabolism.

Supporting hormone balance

It may sound surprising, but supporting the liver supports a healthy oestrogen metabolism, which in turn supports hormonal balance and reduces common signs associated with oestrogen dominance, and reduces PMS signs.

Dandelion Root has been used for centuries to support the liver and is an important botanical for women’s hormonal balance. Rich in inulin, polysaccharides, potassium and ‘Sesquiterpene Lactones’, Dandelion Root provides a natural source of prebiotics and fibre. Research shows it exerts antioxidant properties, which contribute to gastrointestinal wellbeing, helping with common signs associated with PMS, including bloating and abdominal cramps.

Regulating irregular periods will also help with overall PMS tension and provide digestive support. Research shows that gut health plays a vital role in supporting healthy hormonal balance. Dandelion has been shown to stimulate the growth of 14 strains of bifidobacteria and help reduce the overgrowth of unhealthy (pathogenic) bacteria. Dandelion is also extensively used as a ‘tonic’ for the gallbladder, supporting the body’s detoxifying abilities by helping eliminate the effects of pollution and toxins.

Magnesium and Vitamin B6 support hormonal regularity. Magnesium has been found to relax muscles and soothe abdominal and muscular cramps. Combining bio-available forms of Magnesium and B vitamins, in particular, is an effective way of supporting women’s hormonal imbalances. PMS Hero® includes the most bioavailable and active forms of B vitamins, including Folate (as calcium L-methyl Folate). Magnesium and Folate are key nutrients supporting normal hormone metabolism and helping regulate the menstrual cycle.

Agnus Castus, also referred to as Chasteberry, is a botanical herb traditionally used for its hormone-modulating properties and has been extensively studied for its effects on regulating PMS related issues. Research has shown it provides support for menstrual-related breast pain (‘mastalgia). In addition, for the more severe form of PMS, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), research indicates Chasteberry provides support from the psychological and physical PMDD issues experienced.

Dong Quai, also referred to as Angelica sinensis, is a well-known herb with long traditional use in Chinese medicine as a ‘female tonic’. It has been used for women’s health during different stages of their lives, including the pre-menstrual period and the menopausal transition. Dong Quai supports both the physical and emotional signs that arise with PMS and in turn, can help support the menstrual cycle holistically throughout the whole month.15-17

Bromelain, derived from the stem, fruit and juice of the pineapple plant, is a protein-digestive enzyme used for centuries, and research indicates Bromelain can help reduce swelling that can arise through PMS.

Mental health and emotional wellbeing

Supporting signs of PMS involves giving the body the right tools to address stress that can arise at this time of the month. Learn more about the impact of PMS on stress and mood in the recently conducted research.

Ashwagandha KSM-66® provides natural inner calm and relaxation and is an extensively clinically studied botanical found to help reduce stress. Ashwagandha KSM-66® is a full-spectrum extract obtained from Ashwagandha’s root - it is the most clinically trialled and world-wide acclaimed form of Ashwagandha. The root of the Ashwagandha is superior to the leaves because the root contains the highest concentration of the active constituent, ‘withanolides’. The extraction process is pure and involves no nasty chemicals, alcohol or solvents.23

Shatavari, often referred to as the 'Queen of Herbs', has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. Like Ashwagandha, it is referred to as an ‘adaptogen’ and helps support the body and mind to better cope with unique stressors encountered throughout the day. Shatavari helps signs of PMS including stress, irritability, and brings the body to a state where it can better cope calmly with physical and emotional stress.

These key botanicals, vitamins and minerals provided in their most bio-available doses and forms, along with a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle, can help soothe the nervous system and provide optimal support for your emotional wellbeing.

Vitamins B1, B6, Folate (B9) and the mineral Magnesium also provide psychological wellbeing support. Folate provides support for normal blood formation and normal homocysteine metabolism, which in turn supports regular menstrual cycles and a stable mood. PMS Hero® provides the highly-absorbed and utilised form of Folate, Calcium-L-methyfolate.

Regulate blood sugar levels and support better skin

PMS Hero® includes Chromium which helps maintain normal blood glucose levels. Chromium also supports macronutrient metabolism, which fuels the breakdown of food (carbohydrates, fats and protein) into a form of energy for the body to utilise.

Stable blood glucose levels are vital to steady levels of energy and maintaining a balanced mood - fluctuations in mood are a common sign of PMS and can cause irritability

Vitamin B3 in PMS Hero® contributes to healthier skin. Breakouts and fluctuations in skin health are common signs of PMS and, along with Chromium, Vitamin B3 helps protect the skin during the hormonal changes throughout the menstrual cycle.

Sustained energy levels and better sleep

PMS Hero® helps alleviate tiredness and fatigue while contributing to improved energy levels. It supports daily focus and mental clarity, enabling you to keep up with your daily routine and performance. PMS Hero® includes key B vitamins at optimal doses, in their most efficient forms, for appropriate absorption and utilisation by the body.

Niacin (B1), Vitamin B5, B6 and Magnesium contribute to energy-yielding metabolism.

Niacin (B1), Vitamins B5, B6, Folate and Magnesium also contribute to a reduction in tiredness and fatigue.

Blood glucose support

First and foremost, GlucoBalance® provides unique support to balance blood sugar.

Traditionally used in Ayurvedic and Chinese cultures, Chromium is an essential mineral that supports normal macronutrient metabolism, converting the food we eat into sources of energy for the body to function. ‘Macronutrients’ are carbohydrates, protein and fat.

Chromium also contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels. It plays a role in how insulin helps regulate blood glucose levels in the body. GlucoBalance® includes a clinically studied dose (200 micrograms) of Chromium, in its picolinate form, which is a highly bio-available form for optimal absorption and efficacy.

Fenugreek Seed is a clover-like herb, traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine for supporting healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Research indicates Fenugreek Seeds can help maintain normal glucose levels in the blood and support insulin metabolism. This may, in turn, reduce the risk of developing conditions like diabetes and its associated health complications. For those with Type 2 diabetes, it may help to provide better control over blood glucose levels in conjunction with a healthy, balanced lifestyle with the right exercise and dietary regime.5-8

Cinnamon, also traditionally used in Ayurvedic and Chinese remedies, has always been prized for the vast array of active botanical compounds it naturally contains. Cinnamon’s natural flavour and sweetness are attributed to ‘Cinnamaldehyde’, an important active constituent with well-researched antioxidant properties. Cinnamon helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels as part of a healthy lifestyle. Research shows that cinnamon plays a role in helping the body maintain a healthy composition.9-10,15

GlucoBalance® provides the clinically studied Ceylon Cinnamon at the optimal dose of 750 mg.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid is a naturally occurring antioxidant that is naturally produced in our body and found in foods including beetroot, carrots, broccoli and spinach to help break down carbohydrates and produce energy.

Myo-inositol, which is also referred to as Vitamin B8, is commonly found in foods including beans, grains, nuts, fresh fruit and vegetables. Inositol exists in many different forms, but Myo-inositol is the type that is most available in nature, with the most bioavailability which supports efficacy and absorption for the best results.

GlucoBalance® provides 300mg of Myo-inositol, which is a major component of our cell membranes and supports our cells in responding to a variety of functions, from hormones to neurotransmitters and growth factors. Ongoing clinical research also suggests it may influence the action of insulin.

Bitter Melon, also known as ‘bitter gourd’, is a plant with a naturally bitter taste and as it ripens, the bitter flavour is enhanced. It is thought to support normal glucose metabolism through the action of its active constituents, charantine, anthocyanosides, and beta- and alpha-carotene.

Maintains steady energy levels

GlucoBalance® is formulated to balance your blood sugar levels to support your energy through each day. Keeping blood glucose levels balanced can help the body avoid sudden dips in energy levels, keeping them steady throughout the day. Sustained energy release can also help for poor focus and concentration.

Along with dietary and lifestyle modifications, physical activity, eating more wholegrains, fibre and protein, and staying away from artificial or processed foods and sweeteners, GlucoBalance® can support steady energy levels so you can thrive.

Chromium supports the metabolism of macronutrients and plays a role in the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats and proteins to support the body’s use of energy. Cinnamon has been scientifically researched for its effect on mental and physical fatigue.

Digestive wellbeing

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has traditionally been used as a home remedy for flavouring or preserving foods for many years.

GlucoBalance® provides a convenient way for you to include ACV in your daily routine, especially if you wish to avoid the strong taste or smell associated with the liquid. A daily serving of GlucoBalance® provides 200mg of ACV.

Note: Apple cider vinegar is also naturally acidic and it is suggested that drinking it on its own may cause damage to the oesophagus, especially if drunk daily.

Research shows Fenugreek Seeds support and balance the metabolism of fats and contribute to maintaining the physiological gastric pH.

Bitter Melon provides a natural source of soluble dietary fibre which supports digestion. Evidence shows that the protein extracts from different types of bitter melon can help block the activity of two particular enzymes (Alpha-amylase and Alpha glucosidase) which digest carbohydrates and contribute to the rise of blood glucose levels after meals.

Cinnamon can also support digestion and help maintain normal stomach gas and stomach comfort.

General wellbeing and healthy heart support

Mental wellbeing

When there is a lack of insulin entering the brain, feelings of stress, irritability and mood swings may occur. This is because Insulin works by taking serotonin (our happy hormone) into the brain, where it supports and balances the mood and lowers feelings of stress.

Balancing blood glucose levels with GlucoBalance®, and with optimal dietary choices and particular nutrient intakes, can help the brain receive serotonin via insulin, and support our mental and general wellbeing.

Healthy heart

In the long term, unmanaged blood glucose imbalances can contribute to cardiovascular diseases. As seen in research, botanicals may support the heart, lipids and circulation in various ways and provide significant antioxidant properties. Antioxidants can help protect our cells from oxidative stress, protecting them from damage and reducing the development of chronic health conditions, including heart disease.
