    What is Lemon Balm?

Also known as Melissa officinalis, Lemon Balm is a perennial plant that belongs to the mint family and has a naturally mild lemon aroma. Lemon Balm has historically been used for culinary and medical purposes in European countries, the Mediterranean region, and countries in the Middle East.

Lemon Balm contains a wide range of active plant compounds, and is acclaimed for its antioxidant properties, soothing properties for a sore mouth and throat, and cognitive and mental health support to help keep a positive outlook on life.

As an essential oil, Lemon Balm provides a sweet scent that is both refreshing and relaxing, at the same time. While Lemon Balm is still a plant that is being studied for its active compounds, evidence suggests that it helps support relaxation and helps reduce irritability, tension and restlessness, which can ease an anxious mind and support physical and mental wellbeing.

Lemon Balm is also acclaimed for helping support digestion and contributing to the function of the intestinal tract. It is also thought to help support circulatory health.
