What is Chaste Berry
Chaste Tree (Vitex Agnus-Castus) is a plant native to Mediterranean regions, the berries of which have been used in traditional European medicine for centuries. Chaste Tree was originally thought to be an anaphrodisiac (hence ‘chaste’), however today it is more commonly used to relieve symptoms of premenstrual stress including irritability, mood swings, breast tenderness and headaches.
Chaste Berry naturally balances hormones and in doing so helps relieve symptoms of PMS that arise as a result of hormones fluctuating during a woman's monthly cycle. Studies suggest that it decreases the levels of prolactin, and rebalances the amounts of other hormones such as oestrogen and progesterone, and in doing so helping relieve PMS (premenstrual syndrome) symptoms, including anxiety and irritability as well as headaches, breast tenderness.
